Pop art is an art movement with originates from both the United Kingdom and the United States which emerged during the mid to late 1950s. The movement includes imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, comic books and mundane mass produced objects such as soup cans which presented a challenge to traditions of fine art. One of the main aims of the movement was to use images of popular culture in art, emphasizing the lack of individuality usually through the use of irony.
